October 11, 1928. The Yankees had just won the World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in four games. Babe Ruth went 10-16 (.625) and hit 3 home runs in game 4. Lou Gehrig hit four home runs and batted .545. It was the first time the Yankees had won consecutive World Series titles.

With the season over, Yankee manager Miller Huggins headed straight for his favorite golf course - the Jungle Country Club.
