The Jungle extends across two square miles of land on the west side of St. Petersburg, Florida bounded by Tyrone Blvd (N), Boca Ciega Bay (W), 5th Avenue North (S), and the Pinellas Trail (E). It includes the current day neighborhoods of Azalea, Jungle Prada and Jungle Terrace.

In the Roaring 20s, the Jungle was a popular winter destination. Some people built magnificent Mediterranean-style homes, others came to party at the Gangplank speakeasy, fishermen embarked from the Jungle pier for deep-sea fishing, still others came as guests of the Jungle Country Club Hotel (now Admiral Farragut Academy) or to play on the Jungle golf course (razed in the 1950s for the Azaleaville development). There was an airport, just west of today’s Tyrone Square Mall, where the airshows awed visitors, many of whom had never seen an airplane before.
Current day neighborhoods of Azalea, Jungle Prada and Jungle Terrace are in the Jungle.
Within Azalea boundaries are the Jungle Country Club Hotel (now Admiral Farragut Academy) and the Jungle Golf Course. The last vestige of the nationally famous golf course is Jungle Country Club Creek which flows down Farragut Drive to Boca Ciega Bay.
In Jungle Prada, there are brick streets that were laid in the early 1900s, the Jungle Prada complex (former home of the Gangplank speakeasy), the Jungle Pier and magnificent homes from the 1920s building boom.
St. Petersburg’s first airport was in the Jungle just west of current day Tyrone Square Mall, in today’s Jungle Terrace.
