In 1925, the U.S. Postal Service began awarding contracts to commercial airlines to deliver air mail. Philadelphia-based Pitcairn Aviation was awarded contract air mail route number 25 (CAM-25) between Miami, St. Petersburg (Piper-Fuller Field in the Jungle), and Atlanta on December 1, 1928.
The official CAM-25 air mail postage stamp:
St. Petersburg's first airport, originally named Fuller Flying Field, was located west of Tyrone Square Mall in the Jungle.
