The Virtual Babe Ruth Birthday Party

Tom Derry has been celebrating the Babe Ruth Birthday Party in the Detroit area since 1988. This year's party was virtual with Tom in his basement bar reminiscing about past celebrations and the people who attended. The party started as always at 7:14 p.m. (Babe Ruth hit 714 career home runs).  Hank Aaron passed away this year at the age of 86 and at 7:55 p.m. there was a moment of silence and tribute honoring the man who first surpassed Ruth's career home run record and then went on to hit 755 of them.

Attendees were invited to send in a party themed photo. I had this picture taken, but I didn't submit it in time for the broadcast.

A regular at the party is author Tom Stanton, who I have quoted on this blog. Here is a screenshot of the broadcast with a comment I made about Mr. Stanton.

Thanks to Tom Derry for keeping the Babe Ruth Birthday Party going for 34 years!
