A neighborhood history buff and fan of the blog found this vintage postcard on eBay of the Jungle Prada Motel, circa 1954-1970.
The pool was added sometime between 1950 and 1954, but is no longer on the property. In 1954, Swiss chef Walter Hesser bought the building for $150,000 and enlarged the dining area.
And here's a photo from the St. Petersburg Times of a pirate chest of doubloons found on the motel grounds around that same time (June 26, 1961).
