Recent Visitors to Jungle Country Club Creek ‒ Anhinga, Roseate Spoonbill and Stork

Photos dated April 22 and May 1, 2021.

Anhinga on railing overlooking creek.

I've seen an anhinga in the creek with its body underwater and only its neck above the water. At first I thought it was a snake. (Wikipedia: The word anhinga comes from the Brazilian Tupi language and means "devil bird" or "snake bird". ) Photo credit: Pixabay.

Publisher's note: Residents have proposed naming the Farragut ditch "Jungle Country Club Creek." Although the name is pending, posts on the blog will refer to the creek as "Jungle Country Club Creek."
