Elbow Lane

When the neighborhood was plotted in 1915, many of the streets were named for golf terms. Course architect A.W. Tillinghast used the term "elbow" to describe a hole that today would be called a hole with a "dogleg." These are holes where the fairway bends between the tee and the green. Elbow Lane bends twice on its route between Park Street and Country Club Road. In current golf terminology "the elbow" is sometimes used to designate the "crook" area of the dogleg.
