30,000 Views of The Jungle Country Club History Project!

A significant milestone - 30,000 views!

This blog celebrates the unheralded history of west St. Petersburg, with special emphasis on the history of the Azalea neighborhood where luminaries of the Roaring Twenties were guests of the Jungle Country Club Hotel (now Admiral Farragut Academy). The famed Jungle Country Club appeared in newspapers and on newsreels across the country. The hotel and golf course were located in what is now the Azalea neighborhood. In the mid-1950's, the golf course was replaced by a residential development ‒ Azaleaville.

Google blog statistics, May 11, 2022:

The first post was three years ago on May 5, 2019. That's an average of about 10K per year  ‒ quite a few viewers for a blog that is limited in scope to this neighborhood's history.

Azalea Homes (boundaries shown in red) on Google maps. The historic Jungle Country Club Hotel (now Admiral Farragut Academy) is in the Azalea Homes neighborhood.

Contributions From Viewers Like You

My own research is complemented with emails from readers who send historic photos and provide valuable information about the neighborhood's past, which is posted to the blog for all the world to see.

Spreading Our History Across the Internet

Many of my original posts are "borrowed" by others and posted on the internet, multiplying the number of viewers who learn about the neighborhood's history. Almost all of Admiral Farragut Academy's Jungle Country Club history page was borrowed from this blog without accreditation. That's discourteous, but at least our history is being spread across the internet.

So what does 30K look like?

There were 30K at Farm Aid 2012 including Neil Young and Willie Nelson.

And 30K saw President Obama in 2012 in Madison, Wisconsin.

Thanks to all viewers who celebrate neighborhood history!
