A rare and colorful look at the tourism boom of the Roaring Twenties. Among these 24 miniature postcards, there are some that are not found anywhere else on the internet, including eight from the west side of St. Petersburg. The second postcard is of the Country Club, Davista, which was the original name of the Jungle golf course.
These miniature postcards (enlarged for this article) are about the size of a credit card, too small to be mailed by today's post office standards, but completely acceptable in the 1920's. The postcards were handed out for free by the Chamber of Commerce and tourists mailed them to friends across the country, thus advertising the beauty and wonders of St. Pete.
The first seven miniature cards were found on eBay, the remaining postcards are from a souvenir folder in my private collection.
A number of these postcards are in Davista, which was adjacent to the Jungle on the south side and included the area between 5th Av N and 5th Av S. In 1923, Davista was annexed to the Pasadena-on-the-Gulf development. For a map of Davista, link here.
