The current day St. Pete neighborhoods of Azalea, Jungle Prada and Jungle Terrace are in the Jungle.
Within Azalea neighborhood boundaries are the Jungle Country Club Hotel (now Admiral Farragut Academy) and the Jungle Golf Course. The last vestige of the nationally famous golf course that was frequented by Babe Ruth is Jungle Country Club Creek which flows down Farragut Drive to Boca Ciega Bay.
In Jungle Prada, there are brick streets that were laid in the early 1900s, the Jungle Prada building (former home of the Gangplank speakeasy), the Jungle Pier and magnificent homes from the 1920s building boom. The Tocobaga Indians lived here from around 900-1700 AD. Pánfilo de Narváez and his crew of Spanish explorers landed here in 1528.
St. Petersburg’s first airport was in Jungle Terrace just west of current day Tyrone Square Mall.
